Good to know

Outdoor kitchens in Dallas, what to know

An outdoor kitchen keeps the party outside, but it faces sun, rain, and heat every day, so it has to be built to live outdoors. We build on solid, weatherproof structure with commercial-grade components. Here’s what homeowners ask.

What can I include in an outdoor kitchen?

Built-in grills, side burners, smokers, stone or tile counters, bars, sinks, fridges, and weatherproof storage. We design the layout around how you cook and entertain.

Will an outdoor kitchen hold up to Texas weather?

Built right, yes. We use weatherproof cabinetry, stone or tile counters, and commercial-grade appliances on a solid base so it keeps working and looking good for years.

Can you match my patio and cover?

Yes, we design the kitchen to tie into your patio, cover, and overall backyard so everything works together as one space.

What gets decided before the stone

The rough in is the whole job, and it happens first

An outdoor kitchen is finished in stone and stainless, and judged on how it looks. What decides whether it works is entirely underneath: where the gas, water, power and drainage arrive, and whether they were run before anything was built over them. Retrofitting a service into a finished island means opening the finish you paid for.

  • Services planned to the appliance, not in generalGas line sizing depends on the burner you are actually installing. Roughed in generically and specified later, the run either has to be redone or the appliance never performs the way it should.
  • Ventilation and clearances built inEvery appliance has clearances it needs from combustible material, and a covered kitchen needs air movement. These are structural decisions, made at framing, not adjustments made once the stone is on.
  • Drainage away from the structureSinks, ice wells and simple rain all put water into the island. It gets a route out that does not end against the posts holding your cover up.
  • Built for the weather it lives inCabinetry, fixings and surfaces outdoors face heat, damp and freeze in the same year. Materials rated for interior use fail quickly out there in ways that are expensive to unpick once stone is set around them. We specify for the exposure the island actually has, including whether it sits under cover or in open sun.

Decide the appliances before we build, even if you buy them later. The list is what the whole island gets designed around. The single most useful thing you can do before quoting is decide what you will actually cook out there. A grill and a fridge is a very different island from a full kitchen with a sink and a run of cabinetry, and building the second when you wanted the first is an expensive way to find out.
