Why Estrada

Why cedar is still the Dallas default

Cedar earns its place here. It resists rot and insects without chemical treatment, it takes stain well, and it moves less than treated pine when North Texas swings from spring rain to August drought.

The failures you see around Dallas are almost never the wood. They are posts set too shallow in dirt, or panels built tight to the ground where they wick moisture. We build the opposite: deep-set posts in concrete, a gap at grade, and rails sized for the span.

  • Western red cedar pickets, kiln-dried and sorted on site
  • Posts set deeper than code minimum in real concrete
  • Board-on-board or side-by-side, your call after we walk it
  • Cap-and-trim option for a finished top line
  • Written workmanship warranty
What we build

Options & configurations

Board-on-Board

Overlapped pickets, zero sightlines, and no shrinkage gaps when the cedar dries out.

Side-by-Side

The cost-effective classic. Clean, uniform, and quick to build on a straight run.

Cap and Trim

A top cap and trim board that squares the whole line and hides picket ends.

Stain and Seal

Applied after the cedar cures so it actually soaks in and holds colour.

Built for Dallas

Cedar Privacy Fences for Dallas yards

For Dallas homeowners, cedar privacy is the default for a reason, but the black gumbo clay under most of the county is what decides whether it lasts. Soil that swells with spring rain and shrinks in the summer will lever a shallow post right out of plumb. We auger past the active clay zone, set every post in real concrete, and crown it to shed water. In Lakewood and the M Streets we match picket height and rail count to what the block already has; in newer builds out toward Lake Highlands we size gates so they still swing square after the first full season.
